The Texas Revolution announce today the return of 2016 Champions Indoor Football Coach of the Year and 2017 champion, Victor Mann, who will resume his role as head coach effective immediately.
Mann guided the Revs to two-straight playoff appearances in the team’s last two years of CIF competition, compiling a 21-7 record and briefly served as the General Manager, Head Coach and Director of Football Operations for the Omaha Beef before family obligations caused the relationship to end earlier than expected, per a February Beef press release.
“I’m glad to be back a part of the game,” Mann said. “I’m Happy to be coming back with the Texas Revolution and ready to hit the ground running. I’m going to do whatever we can to get the organization to be competitive as it can be moving forward. This is going to be a tough game coming up on the road, but it’s a special
opportunity for me to get to know my players and build a camaraderie with the reorganized staff to try to turn things around.”
Mann, a former fullback for the Kansas City Chiefs, the AFL’s Kansas City Command and Kansas St., helped the Revs offense constantly stay on top of the league in points per game – averaging over 60 each of the last two seasons. The Revs have struggled at quarterback in 2018 as Chris Dixon continues rehab from a shoulder injury. Three of the Revs four early-season losses have come when the team tied or led in the fourth quarter.
Coach Carlos Cavanaugh and the rest of his staff will be retained with roles to be determined in the coming weeks.
“Carlos is an energetic coach that is eager to be the best he can be for his football team,” Revs CEO Tommy Benizio said. “At this time, a coaching re-organization was just the necessary thing for us. We’re happy to have Coach Mann back.”
Fans can next check the team in action, guided by its old coach, at the Dave and Busters watch party Saturday April 14 when they face the Duke City Gladiators and are back in action at the Dr Pepper Arena April 21 against the rival Dallas Marshals. Tickets are available – call the team offices at 972-422-PASS.
